30 Years of Community Commitment: PICOR Charitable Foundation’s Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser Sets New Record for Southern Arizona Youth

The PICOR Charitable Foundation‘s 30th annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser, held on October 27th, 2024, has once again surpassed expectations, raising an outstanding $188,000 for youth programs in Southern Arizona. This achievement not only met but exceeded our original goal of $150,000, marking another consecutive year of growth. Hosted at Tucson’s Reid Park, the fundraiser brought together PICOR employees, their families, and community members for a morning of flipping pancakes and community building. PICOR Charitable Foundation served approximately 1,200 people, including 575 active duty service members and their families. We partnered with Desert Thunder, a group of active duty servicemembers and their families from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, to extend our reach and impact within the military community. With Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR covering all out-of-pocket expenses, 100% of donations directly benefit Tucson-area grant recipients, maximizing the impact for local youth programs.

The success of this year’s event was amplified by the generous support of various community partners. Most significantly, the Burton Family Foundation continued their dollar-for-dollar matching program, effectively doubling our ability to invest in Tucson non-profit programs. Live entertainment was provided by area youth from the Tucson Girls Chorus and Mariachi Las Aguilas de Davis. Shamrock Foods donated the use of a refrigerated truck for the event, while Arizona Propane supplied propane canisters for the grills. Starbucks’ community team supplied coffee, hot chocolate, and volunteer support.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Rob Tomlinson for countless volunteer hours leading the PICOR Charitable Foundation to ensure its success. Rob’s commitment and dedication inspired volunteers to serve and ensured a memorable experience for everyone involved.

We’d also like to extend our gratitude to the following organizations and individuals for donating materials and time:

  • 1-800-Water Damage
  • Alpha Phi, Beta Epsilon Chapter
  • BeachFleischman PC
  • Marshall Foundation
  • Penske Truck Rental
  • Reproductions
  • Stewart Title & Trust of Tucson
  • Tomlinson Financial Group
  • University High School
  • Vet-Sec Protection Agency

Looking ahead, the PICOR Charitable Foundation will soon announce the selected beneficiaries of this year’s fundraiser. Since its inception in 1994, the foundation has raised $1.66 million for at-risk youth programs in Southern Arizona. 2024’s record-breaking success is a testament to the power of community collaboration and the shared commitment to supporting Southern Arizona’s youth. As we celebrate this achievement, we look forward to the continued impact this effort will have on Tucson youth programs in the coming year.
