For 32 years, a Tucson Kiwanis Club chapter sponsored an event raising over $300,000 for Tucson charities. In 1994 when the club ceased to operate, PICOR founder Mike Hammond launched the PICOR Charitable Foundation to enable this endeavor to fund Tucson youth programs for years to come. Through its signature October pancake breakfast event, the Foundation institutionalizes C&W | PICOR’s commitment to our community, focused on assisting disadvantaged children in Southern Arizona. An entirely employee-run effort, company members have raised over $1.66 million since the Foundation’s inception. 100% of the proceeds are distributed to the selected organizations, with in-kind donations and C&W | PICOR corporate support covering all overhead costs.

Our goal is to reach those charities benefiting disadvantaged youth where our modest grants will make a significant difference. Often, these are programs and organizations who may receive less public funding than their counterparts.  We are grateful for the continued support of our many clients, partners, and community members whose donations make this effort possible.

Since 2013, the Foundation awards one STEM-focused grant in honor of Ken Nickel (1924-2013) which is matched by our own corporate donation. Ken was PICOR’s founding office manager, a Kiwanian, and the hardest-working pancake breakfast volunteer in its early years.
